A Perfect Plant-Based Meat Substitute

Jackfruit is a large, tree-borne fruit, native to tropical Asia. Young Jackfruit has a tender, meat-like consistency and a subtle taste, making it extremely versatile and perfect in savoury dishes such as salads, burgers, tacos, pizzas and much more. Amazonia Tender Jack is made from organically grown Jackfruit hand harvested from abundant food forests across the ‘Land of Jack’. This cultivation helps to keep these forests standing and provides an ethical, nourishing food source. Amazonia Tender Jack is a source of dietary fibre and contains no artificial ingredients.

The Amazonia Story

From a tiny kitchen in laid-back Fremantle, Amazonia was born. Dwayne had been eating Açaí for a few months now & was feeling a bright change, “I just always thought low energy was a normal state of being”. Invigorated by the difference these whole nutrients made, Dwayne had to share his little health revolution with the people around him. Who would have known Açaí would become a gateway food to all things bright.

As a young man does in an evening of passion, Dwayne decided to take Amazonia national. He took his first ever business trip to meet down-to-earth Chris Norden. They say opposites attract and this dynamic duo has shown just that. With a passion for travel and a love for food, Chris held down the rafters, while Dwayne went on a sourcing expedition.

“We go right to where the seed is grown, we understand our partners, the culture and the small things that play a vital role in sustainable food cultivation” says Dwayne.

Amazonia grew so fast that Dwayne literally worked himself out of home. The ‘Amazonia house’ was quickly filled up with A-team members, so a backyard teepee became Dwayne’s only refuge. Amazonia was thriving and the boys were kicking goals, but nothing could prepare them for what came next. The Brisbane floods hit and over a million dollars of stock sat in the most affected areas of Brisbane. Amazonia was taken to the brink of foreclosure. After years of growth it was back to just Dwayne and Chris to start over.

Amazonia has now grown into a global health food leader, built on sustainable business practice. With a focus on plant based food sources, Amazonia now preserves tens of thousands of acres of rainforest to produce only nature’s authentic products.

You’ll now find the Tender Jack range in our Salamanca, Davey St, Kingston, Bellerive, Lenah Valley and Huonville stores.
