“Eating healthy doesn’t mean missing out on dessert, we pack our cakes full of raw goodness that will nourish your body from the inside out.” Raw Dealer

Holly Oakden is the brains, passion and expertise behind the trail blazing business that is Raw Dealer. Holly initially started creating her glorious cakes and desserts in 2015, upon returning home to Hobart from a couple of years living in Melbourne. A lack of local availability in the raw vegan treats that she’d come to love encouraged her to create her own recipes, which soon became very popular with friends and family.

It wasn’t long until Raw Dealer was kicked off, first selling at a market stall in Cygnet. Needless to say, the cakes went down a treat and word got out that Raw Dealer could offer something new, exciting and delicious.

Holly fills her cakes and desserts with high quality, fresh and wholesome food, using as many Tasmanian grown ingredients as possible. Using local cherries, apples and berries, her creations are often developed based on what’s in season. When available, Holly sources her hazelnuts from Hazelbrae Hazelnuts, and her peanut-based recipes include Tasmanian Spikey Bridge Peanut Butter. The many different flavours and creations have become so popular that they are now delivered all over Tasmania, from Hobart to Launceston, Burnie and Devonport.

While fresh seasonal produce provides a basis for her creativity, Holly also utilizes social media, to draw ideas and inspiration on different flavour combinations and decorative touches from all over Australia and overseas. No two cake recipes are the same and the Raw Dealer range is constantly growing and changing, whilst never neglecting the firm favourites. In fact, Holly’s consistent favourite is the Snickers cake which includes chocolate, caramel and peanut butter.

If you would like to try your hand at raw vegan desserts, but don’t know where to start, then you’ll be thrilled to know that Holly started holding occasional cooking classes, which commenced in March this year. New recipes are created especially for these classes, instructing on how to make simplified raw vegan recipes, with accessible and affordable ingredients.

However, if you’re keen to try the original Raw Dealer delights, be sure to head into our Salamanca Fresh stores for a great selection of these cakes and sweets, delivered directly from Holly’s kitchen.
