Salamanca Fresh are incredibly proud to be supporting the 2018 Love in a Lunchbox initiative, developed by Clarendon Vale Primary School and Clarence Plains Child and Family Centre in Hobart, Tasmania.

Love in a Lunchbox is an event run by staff and volunteers that aims to educate and encourage parents and students to create tasty lunchboxes that swap out ‘sometimes’ foods for fresh and healthy alternatives. The aim is demonstrate how easy and affordable it is to achieve a healthy and delicious lunchbox every day.

This year, the three-day event’s format will be influenced by the popular reality TV show, My Kitchen Rules. The ‘how’ to prepare healthy, affordable and simple lunchbox snacks will be address at four food preparation stations and one oral health station set up in the Clarendon Vale Primary School Gym. Mentors will be set up at each station and parents will be guided in performing food ‘miracles’ using simple ingredients and vegetables. The last day (30th May 2018) will be an open day at the gym, where members of the public can view interactive displays and demonstrations and by the end of the morning, they will have learnt how quicky, easy and affordable it is to make a few basic recipes that can be varied to their liking.

We are very excited to be able to support this event, as we firmly believe that fresh fruit and vegetables are simply the best and we think it’s so important that they become lunchbox staples.

If you would like to find out more, be sure to head into the Clarendon Vale Primary School Gym on Wednesday 30th May between 9am and 12 noon.
