The classic steak sandwich

Ingredients

  • 4 x Beef Scotch Fillet thin cut steaks, 100g each
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • mixed greens
  • 1 x can of beetroot
  • 1 x red onion, thinly sliced into rings
  • tomato relish or chutney
  • 4 x crusty bread rolls
  • potato crisps and pickle spears to serve

Method

  1. Preheat a BBQ flat plate or heavy-based pan to high. Drizzle steaks with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook steak for 1 ½ – 2 minutes. Flip and cook for a further 1 – 2 minutes.
  3. Slice buns open and toast, cut-side down, on a hot pan or BBQ.
  4. Layer greens on one side of the toasted bun. Top with steak, beetroot, onion, relish, and bun lid.
  5. Arrange steak sandwiches on a platter, with crisps and pickles, to serve.
