Virgin Hot Toddy

This hot, spicy virgin toddy will chase away the winter blues and can be enjoyed by all, as it leaves the whisky behind.

  • Juice of 2 whole lemons
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 8 cloves
  • 2 tsp grated ginger
  • Squeeze of fresh orange juice (optional)
  • pinch ground turmeric (optional)

  1. Put the lemon juice and water into a small saucepan, cover with a lid and bring to a simmer over a medium heat.
  2. Add the grated ginger, cloves and cinnamon and simmer with the lid on for another 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from the heat, but allow to infuse in the saucepan for another 5 minutes.
  4. Strain and pour into a two mugs or glasses.
  5. Add the squeeze of orange juice and the turmeric (if using) to each cup before serving.
